{"id":8040,"date":"2026-09-18T17:48:51","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T15:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ordredemaltesuisse.org\/?p=8040"},"modified":"2026-09-20T20:25:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T18:25:11","slug":"together-for-odessa-over-1400-school-bags-on-their-way-to-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ordredemaltesuisse.org\/en\/together-for-odessa-over-1400-school-bags-on-their-way-to-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Together for Odessa: Over 1,400 school bags on their way to Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An impressive, cross-order and cross-border fundraising campaign demonstrates just how much can be achieved when aid organisations work hand in hand: more than 1,400 second-hand school bags for Year 1 pupils, as well as relief supplies for internally displaced people in Odessa, Ukraine, were collected and dispatched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A strong alliance between the Johanniter and the Malteser<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The foundations were laid by a joint network: Johanniter Hilfsgemeinschaften (Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg and Bavaria), together with the Bolzano-South Tyrol delegation of the Order of Malta and the Swiss branches of the Malteser and Johanniter, collected the 1,400 school bags for Philipp Francke\u2019s \u2018New Dawn Odessa\u2019 project as part of their \u201811th National Collection Day for Ukraine\u2019, the 1,400 school bags for Philipp Francke\u2019s \u2018New Dawn Odessa\u2019 project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aid organisations worked seamlessly together on logistics and funding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Transport &amp; funding<\/strong>: A 40-tonne lorry was organised by the\u00a0<strong>Johanniter-Malteser Stiftung Aide &amp; Assistance<\/strong>, with financial support from Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Trier-Mosel and the Johanniter-Hilfsgemeinschaft Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Europe-wide solidarity<\/strong>: Johanniter volunteers from Switzerland, Germany and Hungary coordinated the distribution points, whilst the Malteser integrated their warehouse facilities in Hungary and a children\u2019s home in Romania (Satu Mare), where some of the school bags are being distributed directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This outstanding collaboration \u2013 supported by Johanniter and Malteser volunteers in six countries \u2013 impressively demonstrates what is possible through genuine cooperation across all borders!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An impressive, cross-order and cross-border fundraising campaign demonstrates just how much can be achieved when aid organisations work hand in hand: more than 1,400 second-hand school bags for Year 1 pupils, as well as relief supplies for internally displaced people in Odessa, Ukraine, were collected and dispatched.
