For several months, due to the war, the situation in the Gaza Strip has been catastrophic.
The civilian population is heavily affected; they live amid ruins and cannot access clean water due to destroyed wells.
Hygiene is deplorable, and most people live among garbage and filth.
The people of Gaza are starving and live in constant fear of bombs. Despite repeated calls from authorities,
the population refuses to move to safer areas. Unfortunately, these areas are already overcrowded.

Who are we?

The Order of Malta, the oldest Christian charitable organization, is committed to helping people in need,
regardless of their origin or religion. Its neutral approach to humanitarian aid,
supported by the Order’s extensive network of diplomatic relations, allows it to be one of the few organizations
effectively delivering and distributing essential goods in the Gaza Strip.
Over the past months, nearly 8,000 Gaza families – approximately 40,000 people –
have been supplied with essential goods.

The humanitarian emergency in Gaza

The Gaza Strip is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, characterized by:

• A prolonged blockade restricting access to essential goods, such as food, medicine, and construction materials.
• Recurrent conflicts destroying civilian infrastructure and worsening the humanitarian situation.
• High unemployment rates plunging thousands of families into poverty.
• A health crisis exacerbated by shortages of medicines and medical equipment.

The Order of Malta’s actions in Gaza

In response to this emergency, the Order of Malta Switzerland funds concrete actions to deliver vital humanitarian aid to Gaza’s population:

• Food distribution: We regularly provide food packages to thousands of families, covering their essential needs.
• Medical equipment distribution: We deliver necessary medical equipment to address health emergencies.
• Survival kits distribution: Essential survival kits are distributed to the most vulnerable populations.

This mission is coordinated and implemented by Malteser International, the Order’s disaster relief unit.
